April 21, 2012 was the 5th annual Record Store Day, & it was by far my favorite RSD experience.
After getting to Newbury Comics 15 minutes late, I was hoping & praying I could get everything on my list. Naturally, the store was packed, but everyone was on their best behavior, which is a welcome change from past years. The staff at Newbury Comics were simply the best, & helped everyone find what they were looking for. I was very impressed, & grateful, for their help. But the staff weren't the only ones that impressed me, I was quite taken aback by the help customers were giving one another. We all were helping each other find records, & passing vinyl around. It was a nice moment to be a part of, I felt happy.
I don't care how much buying records makes me a "hipster", but I don't really care. I have been buying them since I was young, & I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
Her are some photos of my Record Store Day adventure:
Outside of Newbury Comics.
In the bathroom at the mall.
My haul!
An awesome tee I bought (that I'm wearing right now, actually) on RSD.
Free stuff!
The Black Angels 7'.
Beach House 7".
The White Stripes 7".
St. Vincent 7".
There are a few things I wasn't able to get, but it doesn't matter, I had a nice day.
Sunshine, records, good people, my dude, & Sonic for lunch.
Perfect day.

I have never heard of this buying-vinyl-makes-you-a-hipster bullshit, but I'm also 43 & have been buying vinyl since it was the only option besides cassette tapes. It will always be my preferred option.
